John Denver Stamp by 2dazed John Denver Stamp by 2dazed
My Dad looks exactly like John Denver. Women used to flock to him at stores begging for autographs. They say everyone has a twin somewhere. I guess John Denver was my dad's. Lol! Because of this, I'm sure you can imagine that I grew up listening to John Denver on 8-Track. It became a tradition when we'd go to Colorado to put in his 8-Track & listen to it all the way there, & all the way back. My Dad did everything he could though, to try & look different. For a time he got tired of it all. But everything my Dad would do, John Denver did at the same time. Dyed his hair, wore contacts, went back to wearing glasses, everything. It was so funny! His music still inspires me to protect & love nature, & brings a tear to my eye. Here's to you, John!

I never met my bio dad, but my mom said he looked just like John Denver, too. I haven't had much else to go on when trying to find him. Your dad's last name doesn't start with a W, does it.

aww... i miss John. He looked a lot like my dad when he was in High School. I love all his music. I LOVE Anne's Song. My dad sings it to me sometimes. I remember when I found out about his passing. Since i started liking him just a few years ago, i learned about from my mom 2 years ago. i went to my room and cried. i'm still sad about it.

Yeah, it hit me pretty hard too. I'm 33, & grew up listening to him. He was a big part of our lives. My Dad looked pretty much identical to him, & ladies were always asking for his autograph. It was funny. We would listen to him every time we'd go to Colorado too. His music is really beautiful, & makes me relax & smile.

Hahaha, it had it's moments. Women always ran up to my Dad wanting an autograph. My Dad finally got tired of it, & just started to do it. No matter how much he'd say he wasn't John Denver, they wouldn't believe him. He did look an awful lot like him.

Oh, yes. All good memories. Like his Christmas CD with the muppets (corny by today's standards) but I just absolutely love it. :aww: It's not Christmas until I hear Alfie the Christmas tree

Your dad looks like John Denver, you say? You lucky person you! (I worked with a Denver clone at a nursing home. Too bad his personality was nothing like John's. Not fun to be around. :bleh: Poor me.)
Nice to see a Denver stamp. Do you mind if I put it in my Journal? Shows others what I'm all about. Proudly. (John Denver fan to the end)

He has always been such an inspiration to me. The latest photomanip I did, and the sculpture, both are inspired by him, but I have so much more.

Sounds stupid to some people, but I reacted the same way to his death as a lot of Elvis fans did to his. I was beside myself for days. I found out returning to school. Odd as it was I was asleep in the truck, my dad was driving, and the radio announcement woke me from a dead sleep, and that is hard to do.

I don't remember what I was doing. I just remember hearing of it, & thinking it was a joke. It had to be. How could my nature loving hero not be here any more. Because of him, I look at the world in a different way. I can look at the same scenery day in & day out, & still see something new every time. And mountains will always be a huge love interest for me. Thanks to John Denver & Bob Ross, I'am who I'am.

You know, I still have a few songs of his that I can't listen to yet.

I finally got to see the Rockies for the first time in my life this past Thanksgiving. It was everything I had imagined, dreamed, and hoped for. I cried as we drove into Colorado Springs, and up to Bear Trap. I tried to get some pics, but I am not a very good photographer. I have the images in my mind though, and I WILL be going back.

I wish you could have gone many yrs ago then. You really would have loved it. I'm sure there was more snow etc back then. We did a train ride over the Royal Gorge, & got snowed on because the ride was open. We also went to some natural rock formation state park called God something. It was really neat. John Denver sang his heart & spirit out the whole time we were there. Gotta love 8 track!

We were going to visit family we had been estranged from for more than 15 years. All the problems were due to my dad's parents, but their kids (my parents, aunts, uncles, etc.) all decided it was time. One of my aunts has Addison's Disease, and so it was kind of a last ditch effort to see her before she got too bad to have company. We had a blast getting back together, bittersweet as it was. I will probably post a bunch of photos from that trip, I am just culling through them currently because there is a lot of bad ones. I am not very good at photography.

It's the person's vision that makes the photo a good one.

I can't believe how much we have in common. Everything is similar. We took Lucien to my Granny's in Tx for Thanksgiving because she found out she had cancer in her bladder. They thought it was in here spine too. We wanted her to see Lu b4 she had her surgery, or chemo, just in case. They took out her bladder, & she's doing good now. It ended up being osteoporosis in her back.
